I've read as many books as I could about AR and AW since the '70s. If I had to pick one author to recommend it would probably be Jonathan Balcombe for his wonderful books, "Pleasurable Kingdom" and "Second Nature".

It's working. :)
I too have read lots of books on animal rights, from Peter Singer's "Animal Liberation" to Gary Francione's "Animals as Persons" to Carol Adams "The Sexual Politics of Meat" to Breeze Harper's "Sistah Vegan". I also enjoyed "Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows" by Melanie Joy.

Two of my other favorite authors are Jeffrey Moussant Mason and Jim Mason,- Jim's book "An Unnatural Order" was the primary motivation for my third book, "The First ISM".
