• Vegan-Friendly Oasis

I was very happy that Mrs. Green's opened this very large store. The area around Yonkers to White Plains on Central Avenue is a wasteland for vegans, so this place is very welcome! The other smaller branch on South Central in Scarsdale is also very good, so I hope they will stay in business. Here in this big new store you can get gorgeous organic produce, lots of tofu and seitan products, and a very good selection of frozen items, some vegan. The salad bar is open 10:30 am-7:00 pm and looks very fresh. The prepared foods in the back offer just a couple of vegan options. There are several vegan bakery items, but you might want to ask to be sure. The smoothie and juice bar is wonderful with lots of fruit, vegetable, and greens, and you can sit there or stroll around the store with your beverage and pay at the checkout. They also offer vegan "ice cream" made only of fruit and 1 teaspoon sugar that is delicious. It would be great if they'd add some vegan sandwiches there, or a way of eating the prepared food in store, since the surrounding area is a wasteland from a vegan perspective. A lot like Whole Foods.
