  • Delicious Indian Food just off Highway 36 - lots of GLUTEN FREE items too!

We accidentally found Zaika when we were in the area, and what a find! Very knowledgeable staff (at least one is vegan), the 'V' on the menu means VEGAN and 2/3 of the menu is GF (gluten free). At the time of writing there are 4 vegan appetizers; veggies samosas (homestyle and yummy), onion pakora, Kauli Manchurian (sautéed cauliflower in tomato sauce) and Cuto salad (cucumber). The vegan entrees are 1) Baingan Barta (eggplant), 2) Chana masala (chick peas), 3) kale aur baingan (kale and eggplant) - my absolute favorite! 4) khatta bhindi (okra) 5) Vegetable masala - simple & sweet (sometimes only available at lunch), plus others according to time of day & menu changes. You can adjust the 'heat' on a scale of 1-5. 3 is pretty hot! You have been warned!! There is usually 1 vegan item on the lunch buffet and the basmati rice is ALWAYS vegan. The roti is vegan. The beer selection is excellent too. Good IPAs to match the curries. The staff were vegan-friendly & kind. The decor was clean & interesting. The wait for food was just long enough that you knew they had put some effort into making it. I would definitely eat there again! Oh, and don't forget to pet the elephant....
