  • Not bad, but not excellent

My non-veg mum and I were visiting Nottingham so I found the Fox Cafe via Happy Cow. We first passed this place on a busy Saturday afternoon - we didn't go in as it was packed - a good sign we thought! We decided to return on Sunday morning for breakfast (helpfully, the menu is on their website). It's nice that it opens a lot earlier than many other local cafes on a Sunday. However, despite us being the only customers the food took almost half an hour to arrive (we got there around 9:30am, an hour after opening). When the food eventually arrived I was given a 'side' of strawberries (nice!) as they'd run out of hash browns. They asked about sauces so I asked for ketchup but this never came. The baked beans (advertised on the menu) were also missing and there was no offer of vegan butter/spread for my very dry toast... I was planning to ask about this and the beans when they came back with the ketchup but in the end we just gave up waiting - we were sitting outside so it's perhaps more understandable that we were forgotten. Despite these little issues the staff were friendly, and I tried a soy milk flat white which was good, though more like a latte if I'm being picky.
