The lotus provides a invaluable service to Dali, offering buffets for both lunch and dinner. Go early as they work on the Chinese Buddhist timetable. Lunch finishes at about 1:30, dinner at around 8. The buffet has a good range of hot dishes, cold dishes, soup, salads, and breads, and costs 20 yuan. Its great value for money in Dali. If you dont mind spending a little extra, its also possible to order dishes from the menu. I highly recommend doing so, as the cooked to order dishes tend to be even better than the buffet.
