  • Good for bread and drinks but disappointing cakes

I’ve been to Modern Baker on several occasions and find their sourdough bread very tasty, as are the matcha lattes (make sure you ask for non-dairy milk as they will assume dairy!). However, none of the vegan cakes (there aren’t many, mainly tiny raw slices) or cookies have been anything like as nice as most vegan bakes. Oily and far too salty. Sadly I don’t think the baker is modern enough to have discovered how to master vegan baking... The vegetarian cakes look fine, but they are no good to a vegan! Big plus is that they sometimes stock Wild Fizz Kombucha which is delicious.
