- Another pleasant surprise in Macerata
Lord Bio, right in the main square of Macerata, offers a number of (mostly vegan) options. A vegan buffet-style (different types of creatively cooked vegetables, tofu, tempeh, etc.) is offered at lunch for 25€/kg (drinks not included): just pick up your plate and pick the food of your choosing, then get your bill at the cashier. Expect to pay 8-10€ for a reasonably large portion of whatever you like. On one evening I also tried the vegan pizza option, four different pieces of pizza and a bottle of organic beer for 10€, definitely a bargain. Don't be scared away by the pompous appearance of the website, praising the local food with a PhD and so on. For someone who had prepared for the worst, a most pleasant surprise!
