  • Very Interesting

A friend and I had a presentation to prepare so I wanted to try a centrally-located cafe with many options as she is gluten-free vegetarian and I am raw til 4 vegan so we can be quite complicated restaurant guests! Since I had read that Astanga served juices, raw gf cakes, snacks and smoothies, I thought this would a chill place to discuss our notes and have a healthy snack. I guess I didn't choose a great day, because all they had to eat was one raw gf chocolate cake (thankfully perfect for us, although I felt more like something savoury) and some smoothies. Before we could eat, however, they offered us a free guided meditation to spread world peace. We felt slightly obliged as the guru was a bit insistent and so we went, it was only 20 minutes anyway. It was a super interesting experience as I had never meditated before and they provided a translator for us, however I could barely hear him because he didn't want to speak to loudly and interrupt the polish guru. We got back to our food and presentation notes and everything was okay, I just felt strange about the ordeal because it was an overpowering yogi atmosphere that didn't suit me or the task at hand.
