  • Best vegan restaurant in Mainz

Gutenberger Weinlokal is an awesome place. They are fully vegan, including their impressive wine selection which has a lot of vegan wines from local wineries. But not just their wines, also their foods are delicious. They offer some tapas and a weekly changing menu which has always a starter, a couple of mains and a dessert on it. The food is not just delicious but also very inventive. In a very positive way, this place does not feel like a vegan place at all: Many people visit Gutenberger just for their wines and because it so nicely situated in a small alley in Mainz Altstadt, many of them probably hear about veganism here for the first time. In fact, many non-vegans recommended this place to me already, saying how impressed they were with the food quality 'even though it was vegan'. Their prices are reasonable for the high quality (about 5 EUR for a glass of wine and 13 EUR for a filling main course) but can be quite high for students. There are a lot of cheaper vegan places in Mainz already so it is great to also have a gourmet place now as well.
