• Great Option for Central Taipei

Rice Revolution (Xiaminxi) serves simple, healthy, delicious meals of organic food sourced from eco-friendly farms around Taiwan. It's owned and run by an active member of the Green Party of Taiwan (the Green Party as in environmental party, not the DPP, which together with the Green Party and others form the 'Pan-Green' coalition). While many restaurants the world over claim to use "organic food as much as possible" and cash in on the trend of environmentalism, it's obvious that this restaurant is run by passionate environmentalists (though I do wish it would follow through to a fully-vegan menu). Vegan items are labelled in Chinese, but the English-speaking staff will be happy to help with what can be made vegan. Meals sets cost around 200NT, which is excellent value for organic food in central Taipei. Since the unfortunate closure of the Huaining Loving Hut and Veggie Joy this is one of the best options for vegans around Taipei Main Station and 2-28 Peace Park.
