  • Vegan food in Kyoto Station

I was hyped to find Vegan food in Kyoto station. Initially I found it a little difficult to find as I stumbled upon a cosmetics shop run by Cosme Kitchen and assumed the restaurant would be nearby, instead it was some way down the hall. When I got there, it was mid afternoon, but it was still busy. Not so busy that I had difficulties finding a seat, but I was surprised to see so many people eating lunch there so late. I took it at a good sign, but I imagine getting a seat there at peak time would be difficult. The food itself was quite good. I had the lunch set with soy-meat bolognese, a couple of salads, brown rice and a cup of tea. The food all tasted very fresh. The Vegan items weren't clearly marked. I had to resort to using allergen indicators, which were in Japanese. It may be difficult for someone with no knowledge of Japanese to know for sure what is and isn't Vegan. I'm sure one could ask the staff, but the servers who were working when I went didn't seem to speak much English. Ultimately, if you're looking for something to eat in the Kyoto station complex, this is your best (and perhaps only) bet. Kyoto is, however, one of the most Vegan friendly cities in Japan. If you're travelling around Kyoto, there are plenty of other (better) options available.
