- Good food but challenging set-up
Note: the menu on their website is quite out-of-date in terms of prices and vegan selections. This venue is located in a pleasant and reasonably affluent part of Brisbane, with a number of swanky cafes around the corner. Even though we had read the helpful reviews and descriptions of the place on this site, we were still surprised at how poorly the restaurant was set up: a handful of tables literally squashed into a partitioned corner of an Indian grocery shop (there was so little room that the backs of our chairs were touching the chairs of the diners at the neighbouring table). Although the shop itself was cool and airy, the restaurant section was so hot and humid it was almost unbearable. We immediately asked to sit at the 3 outdoor tables (it was a lovely, fresh summer's night), but were told that they were all booked out - and for good reason, clearly! The menu is mostly vegan (no ghee to worry about), apart from the usual Indian dishes with paneer/cheese. Our food was very tasty and cooked to a low level of spiciness, as requested, yet it was not cheap: the relatively small size of the balti (serving) dishes reminded us of the fact that we were in a rather pricey neighbourhood. Nevertheless, if you are in the area, this is a great place to share some authentic Indian food with some friends. Updated from previous review on 2017-01-04
