Location: On Marutamachi -dori, east of Kawaramachi-dori . near bridge , with a sign "Farmers" in English. Food: Farmers sells fresh fruits, vegetables , bread and other baked goods, deli portions of tofu , veggies and non-veg take out items , soy products, noodles, rice, seasonings, snack food, and imported Western items like quinoa, cinnamon, cumin, oatmeal. (A fully stocked specialty market with a wide range of imports ---jams, grains like barley and oatmeal,--and freshly baked breads , fresh herbs is Meidi-ya, on Sanjo-dori, near Kiyamachi, near the entrance to the Sanjo covered arcade.) The friendly staff tried to answer all our questions about the items. (We were looking for unsweetened soy milk, for instance. )
