• Great Focaccia Sandwich Bread

I had read about this place on happycow and decided to give it a try. Wash here in December 2012, and here's my Makawao Garden Cafe review. It's casual place in the town center with only outdoor seating under umbrellas. The menu is displayed out front, so you can see what's offered. The owner, Kathi, was there to greet us and told us that she could accommodate vegans by omitting dairy. The day's soup was a coconut thai soup, and that was alright. The quinoa and eggplant salad is tossed in a vinagrette dressing, and that was pretty good-very tender eggplant. You can also get an grilled eggplant sandwich. The foccacia bread used for the sandwiches is vegan and totally delicious. They don't sell them here, though, except for advance ordering. The ambiance is relaxed and dining style is basic. Prices are inexpensive.
