• Not so great service - was this an off-night?

Went here tonight after reading the fantastic reviews here, but our experience was coloured negatively by the poor treatment we received. We first walked in and were ignored by the wait staff, so we seated ourselves. The waiter came and served the 2 tables on either side of us, not giving us even a glance. When I asked him for our menu, he hesitated and reluctantly agreed. After he handed the menus to us, he asked us if we had made reservations, in a way that suggested we were not welcomed. When we said No, he said it 'should be okay'. Not exactly how 2 mild mannered patrons guests should be received. We later heard him speak rudely to new guests, who he turned away immediately after asking them short and pointed questions. I don't know if tonight was just an off-night, but we were pretty disappointed and will not return nor refer our many vegan friends to this establishment. The food was certainly delicious, but atmosphere counts as well and is part of the dining experience. We still left a small tip in case there was a misunderstanding or if the waiter was just having a bad day.
