- Healthy, delicious, and cheap
Cigkofte is one of the best vegan options in Turkey. It is a paste made with bulgur, tomato paste, and spices. Some places do prepare it with meat-- so make sure you ask! It is also very inexpensive! At Cigkofteci Omer, a durum (wrap) is 3 TL, about 2 dollars. For 9 TL (6 dollars), you can get a big tray of cigkofte (choose a little spicy or spicy), a big pile of vegetables, and a lot of wrap bread. It is one portion, but enough to feed 4 people! The restaurant is a little hole in the wall with one or two tiny tables, but the the food is perfect for a picnic in nearby Macka park :) The vegetables there are always very fresh!!! CO is not directly in the city center-- it's about a 15 minute walk on the main road between Taksim and Mecidiyekoy.
