- Little Surprises Inside
Since it opened earlier this month (May 2010), I've already shopped here twice, namely because it's located next door to the Trader Joe's market at which I shop, but also it's because they stock vegan baked goods and organic raspberries that my family enjoys eating. The store is quite basic, no fancy lighting or isles. It's a small-moderate size store, and the selection is decent. However, it's mostly conventional produce plus some imports. The organic produce section is small and doesn't appeal to me so much - I get my organic produce from Santa Monica's outdoor farmers' markets. I was very pleased to discover that this store offers vegan baked goods by Sugar Beets Bakery. The peanut butter chocolate brownie was so yummy. I also got great good deals on organic blackberries and organic raspberries that were on sale (door busters). I also bought a couple imported "exotic" fruits from more tropical climates, like lychee and start fruit. I also bought vegan croutons on my first visit here, though I didn't see it on the 2nd trip. Definitely will be returning for more good deals and vegan stuff. I do feel bad for this place, because it's located next to Trader Joe's and sells some of the same things (like many of the fruits and veggies, salad stuff, for example). I sure hope the owners can find their niche and sells some good stuff that Trader Joe's doesn't offer. Good luck!
