  • The best smoothie I've had in Vietnam! *Update*

* Update to my previous review as this info needs to be shared!* After being away from Vietnam for a few months I returned to Karma Waters last night for a refreshing healthy drink and a snack. The ginger, orange and cucumber juice was just what I needed to help heal the cold virus I've got at the moment. It's so refreshing to have a juice without heaps of sugar added and much healthier too. However, the snack was what I'm on here to rave about! I chose the crunchy tofu with lemongrass. It came out resembling fried chicken (breadcrumb coated shredded tofu on a lemongrass stick) and it's taste and texture was close to it too - Holy Cow it was good! I didn't know it was possible to make tofu so chicken-like! Definitely a good option for those craving compassionate junk food :) The description and picture on the menu don't do it justice - it's so much more than just crunchy tofu! If you'e craving a vegan version of KFC, this is the place to get it! Previous Review: I finally got round to visiting the Hoi An branch of Karma Waters the other day and was glad that I did. As has already been mentioned by many other reviewers, this place isn't as cheap as your average Chay place, but it is a step up in terms of food quality, hygiene, atmosphere and service. I ordered a Pineapple smoothie (35,000) and a Curry Roti (50,000) and was impressed with both. In fact, the smoothie was the best I've had in Vietnam! Usually when I ask for a smoothie with no milk/yoghurt/dairy it ends up being watery and too sugary. However Karma Water's 100% vegan version had a lovely creamy consistency (which wasn't due to coconut milk - I did ask!) and naturally sweet. The roti was on the small side, but perfectly adequate for a light lunch and was packed with flavour. Eating here is dining for a cause too - in addition to actively promoting veganism and offering eco-friendly tours, they also use profits to help the needy.
