  • Dishes a bit samey

The first restaurant I went to in Nha Trang, this place has a semi-formal feel, with fancy tables. There's an illustrated menu in Vietnamese and English. I didn't quite know how big things would be, so I ordered a Banh Xeo pancake and a fried broccoli dish, which I thought would have tofu in it, since it was listed in the 'tofu' category in the menu. While the pancake was delicious, the broccoli dish turned out to be deep-fried, battered cauliflower. (The words are similar in Vietnamese.) I then made the mistake of ordering another tofu dish, only to be brought an almost identical deep-fried, crumbed dish. It was fine, but just too much deep-fried stuff. I'm not meaning to bad-mouth this place, but just to give warning, I invited a local vegan I met to this restaurant on another occasion, and he told me they used egg, as he had eaten there. I'm not sure this is true, but worth considering, although I had interrogated the waiters when I'd first eaten there.
