  • Very Average Sandwich / Slow Service

There are few vegan restaurants in San Francisco that serve breakfast, and Herbivore seemed like an obvious choice based on the reviews I read. I was initially going to order a breakfast burrito, but after looking through the menu, I figured I would try the tempeh bacon BLT. I felt I could have done much better myself on such a simple sandwich. It was merely bland tempeh strips with lettuce and tomato on average store-bought bread. The service was also slow. I was left for most of my meal with an empty glass of water, and the waitress was talking in the kitchen the entire time I was eating. The restaurant had a really strong stale frying pan smell which wasn't pleasant. I was going to order dessert, but being that my sandwich was so average, I decided to go elsewhere. I do love supporting vegan restaurants, but Herbivore is not a restaurant I would care to eat at again.
