  • One of my alltime faves!

This is one of the hands down best veg options for fine dining in California, as far as I'm concerned. I've eaten there 10 times in the last 20 years, and now that I'm living in Mendo County, I expect to eat there a few times a month. Definately a great place for a veg date, or if you have non veg friends that aren't into the whole granola/ras/hippy/college vibe you get at a lot of veg restaurants. This is the a veggie restaurant even your pretentious meat eating relatives could approve of and even enjoy. I do agree that many may find it a bit pricey, but when put in perspective, it makes sense and is worth it. Firstly, this is a Fine Dining experience for dinner. Multiple courses, amazing and beautiful garnishes, and loving care is evident in the taste and display. Secondly, this is about as locally organic as it gets. Almost all of the food is grown organically and on site. Our produce was literally walked over from the garden within a couple of hours of the time we ate it. Less than a week ago we went and I was delighted by my mixed greens salad(no lettuce - real greens)with Tatsoi,Spinach,Arugula and Baby Kale and Chard in a Sesame Seed/Blood Orange Balsamic. For the main course I had the seasonal veggie Vegan Ravioli which was smothered in a marinara sauce made from 4 scrumptious heirloom tomato varieties. I was too full for desert but was talked into it by the waiter when he mentioned the Double Chocolate Crumble Cake infused with Blood Orange Sugar which I enjoyed with a perfect after dinner coffee with lots of almond milk . Somehow I made room for it all. Quite an experience. Highly recommended. Updated from previous review on Wednesday December 29, 2010
