- One of London's best for veggies and vegans!
I have been to Mildred's a handful of times and I'm never disappointed. The (vegan) mushroom and ale pie with chunky chips and mushy peas is my absolute favourite and is good value at around £10. The standard menu does not seem to change, but there are specials that change often and this includes desserts. There is a lot on offer for both vegetarians and vegans, and the restaurant is also popular with non-veggies too. I went for dinner once with my university professor (a meat eater) and she adored the vegetarian dish that she ordered. Good selection of vegetarian beer and wine too, as well as teas, coffees and organic juice. Mildred's can become very busy and very noisey, so my best advice is to go for an early dinner when the restaurant opens. That way you can take your pick of tables and be served quickly. Staff sometimes come across as snobby but that does not impact upon the overall enjoyment of the dining experience. A great stop before taking an evening stroll around central London or going to see a nearby musical.
