  • Very Vegan-friendly

A hidden gem near KSL shopping mall in Johor Bahru. Saffron Mantra specialises in Asian fusion dishes, the meals here are prepared only upon order because they do not pre make any of their dishes, which means it’s so much more easier to veganise any of their vegetarian dishes. This café doesn’t use any pungent roots and eggs at all! What I tried: • Dill Rice Herbed Basmati rice with Moilee, lil bowl of veggies and pappad. The original dish include dairy but the kitchen switched it to veggies. Everything taste so good! The curry is smooth and aromatic and goes very well with the herbed rice. • Pumpkin Soup Kway Teow This has got to be my favourite vegan dish so far. The fragrant pumpkin broth with soft silken tofu, fried enoki mushroom, shimeiji mushrooms, bok choy and rice noodles, everything in this bowl just compliment each other like a match made in heaven. I’m not even joking! It was very, very good! Definitely a must try. The original dish uses dairy, so we opt for coconut milk instead. • Curry Mee Curry gravy soup filled with generous amount of ingredients like taupok, taukwa and Long beans, and the mint adds a bit of minty flavour to it. • Mee Goreng This noodle dishes kinda reminds me of what I had from Gokul Vegetarian in Upper Dickson (Singapore) but only without the wok hei flavour. It’s really delicious. Worth the try :) The dish also has potato bits in it 🤔 We wanted to try the ‘Lonely Planet’ Biryani but according to the staff, they do not have any vegan chutney at that moment. They did have vegan chutney for the past two weeks before our visit, but there weren’t any vegan customers. The vegan chutney is chutney made without honey.
