Giant rats are everywhere, even in the kitchen of a Michelin star restaurant. There is no escaping them in Thailand, even if you go to a kitchen outside the city. That is just the downside of a tropical country with a lot of people where waste isn't easily disposed off and it attracks rats and other creatures. Furthermore, giving them a 'con' because they don't understand English is (in my eyes) ridiculous. You are in Thailand, not in the UK or Australia. The con here is that you can't speak Thai ;)
