Cookiem: I don’t understand. Your title says that the product is vegan, yet your first line states that “It’s so hard to find some of the traditional candies, sweets and confections that non-vegans regularly consume.”

Is there a typo here? I am asking because what is truly difficult to find in many areas is VEGAN candies not NON VEGAN candies. NON VEAGN food items are everywhere.

We must not under-estimate the importance of “empty calories” 🙂 yum! I’ll keep my eye out for this, it’s been so long since I’ve had nougat.

EnglishTeachingVegan: you are right, there does appear to be some inconsistency in my writing! All the same, I meant what was typed. It is hard to find the “traditional” sweets that non-vegans consume. The implicit difficulty in the sentence structure is: vegans find it hard to find the traditional sweets non-vegans consume. Being that the author and presumably the audience is seeking vegan items, my intent was to proffer a comment on the mutual lamentations upon the difficulties of vegans with non-vegan “traditional” foods and sweets? Thus, vegans cannot easily find nougat, because it is not vegan and the traditional recipe must be specially altered to create a new, different version of the traditional. Voila: enter vegan nougat! Happy sweet treat for the vegan nougat fan! Halfpintpixie is right though, empty calories do comprise part of the nougat, thank goodness for some (teensy bit as it is) caloric nutritional value from the nuts! All the same, once in a while for some sweets is probably alright, if not fun, in balance with a healthy diet, of course!
