Under the Ground Blono, or UtG for short, used to be solely a weekly meal prep service, but is now a full-service vegan and vegetarian restaurant in Downtown Bloomington, with weekly meal prep also offered starting in December 2022. Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reported closed February 2024.

Their vegan options were incredible! I also loved all of the plants and underground seating area. We had the vegan lobstuh, philly, and bacon Mac and cheese.

It’s cool we have a vegan restaurant in the area! Unfortunately, the dishes are very underwhelming and overpriced. A little tiny dish of mac and cheese as a side for $7!?!? I can make a whole pot of that at home for less and have it taste just as good. I feel like everything they have I can make better and for less money on my own at my house with a couple exceptions that aren’t bad! Sadly, that doesn’t make up for the rest. I’m giving 2 because of the mediocre food and the prices they give. I really want to support them, and they really need it as they’ve reduced their hours and keep saying they’re just getting by. Why get such a big place in downtown then if you can’t afford it? Confuses me. Glad they’re here, but they aren’t my first option when wanting to get food from out. I hope they improve.

Great atmosphere, wonderful service & fabulous options. Entire menu can be made vegan. This place is a treasure. My favorite is the monster breakfast burrito but the California clubbin is amazing also. Haven’t had a bad meal yet.

Recent reviews led me here during a road trip. It was awesome! Had the RAK-Mac and got a sandwich for later because my destination isn’t vegan-friendly. I’m already looking forward to stopping by on my way back home!

Went here for dinner, and IT WAS AMAAZING! My boyfriend and I split the Philly, the Lobstah, the Bacon Mac & Cheese, and a Pumpkin Bar. The Philly and the Bacon Mac were definitely my favorites! The Philly tasted just like how I remember the meat counterpart did, and the bacon in the mac tasted like a combo of bacon and ham. It really reminded me of velveeta shells and cheese. So so so good! The Pumpkin Bar was heavenly too! An awesome hidden gem that I just discovered! Highly recommend! 10/10!👌 They are mainly vegan, with just a few vegetarian things. You can make anything vegan I think if it's not already. Love the location too! Very unique!

I went there twice so far and each time was perfect. They have a place for composting, which is awesome. They have unique menu items that all taste good. I got the cheese and salami sandwich and the oven baked potatoes. I definitely recommend those. I also got the breakfast burrito the second visit and it was the best breakfast burrito I ever had.

My boyfriend and I went (he’s vegan, I’m veggie) and it was amazing to find a place that catered to both of our tastes! We haven’t stopped talking about how good the burritos were and are excited to take another trip to Bloomington just to go to this place! Super yummy!

The food was really good here! We only have it 4 starts because the plain vegan Mac and cheese was a bit bland. We like to spice it up at home. My husband was also sad that the Philly didn’t come with mushrooms. Other than that, everything was delicious. We will be coming back!

I've eaten there three times since they opened and everything was fantastic. I dream about the monster breakfast burrito. It is that good. The California Clubbin is also excellent.

Beautiful renovations, lots of greenery in the decor. I sampled my MIL's RAK Thai bowl (delicious!) and ordered the Korean BBQ chik'n sandwich (spicy and filling!). Had to pack half as leftovers! The breakfast burrito I had earlier this week is also great (love that they toast it!). Wish they'd open Wednesdays also but I imagine that's a staffing issue. I love finally having a place in town where almost everything is vegan by default! I also appreciate the composting, even though I have to stop and think about which bin to put everything in (the signs are helpful).

An Amazing Place - Edit
This place is so underrated and fantastic! I’ve been ordering almost weekly because it’s THAT good. Their rotating weekly menu really keeps you on your toes and I haven’t had something I didn’t love. Their desserts are to die for and the staff is so friendly and accommodating! Only downside being is that you can’t just order it and have it delivered right away, but maybe someday in the future they will offer that! They’re very courteous to covid safety and bring the food to your car if you pick it up from their location, and also offer great contactless delivery as well. PLEASE do yourself a favor and try this place out!
