I visited this cafe when I was staying in Melbourne for a weekend from Tassie. The friendly staff were amazing and helpful and I cannot wait to visit again.

The Ambitious act is a quirky and creative space for all types.
The food is fresh and delicious and the space is clean and homely.
The owners are friendly and funny with a very unique sense of humour and have created a space that is both welcoming and warm.
I highly recomend this place for all travelers and regulars of melbourne!

I love Melbourne cafes and eateries and The Ambitious Act is now top of the list for me! The coffee is exceptional and both the vegetarian and vegan food options are inventive, delicious and good value for money. The owners, Justin and Nicole are lovely and their service is no different. It is a small venue but what they have done with the space is creative, lively and comfortable, especially the actor's lounge upstairs!

As a long-term sufferer of mushroomitis, veggie/vegan emporiums always bring a certain raising of the heart rate when friends force me to visit them, claiming "I won't be able to tell the difference", won't miss my bacon sandwich (how can people not miss bacon?!) and so I expected the same going to The Ambitious Act.

Despite the owner trying to repeatedly entice me with his "Homemade bliss balls" (was never going to happen), and having to ask what harrisa was, I finally settled on the pizza. Quickly served up and very tasty, it hit the spot, as did the ginger beer. The double espresso afterwards was perfect and provided suitable rocket fuel for the rest of the day.

Staff are friendly, with the place having a nice vibe. So far I'm free of symptoms so it appears contamination of mushrooms is kept to a minimum. We'll be back!

Great coffee, good food, do yourself a favour and get around this gem of a cafe. *Hot tip* Order the corn bread!!

I came across this wonderful place randomly but what a special find. I am a dancer/director with a ton of admin so i'm always very happy to find somewhere that has a chilled vibe to work. The food is great and whilst I was there I met the wonderful hosts Justin and Nicole who are super down to earth and looked after me extremely well. I will definitely be coming back in the future. :) x

The Ambitious Act is a vegan/vegetarian two-storey cafe. The building is heritage listed in SouthMelbourne.

The decor is fantastic, lots of plants, performance related objects and wooden and old-school laminated tables.

Definitely recommend the coffee and the food. Try the vegan scrambled eggs and the cornbread!

There are also a range of performance related events. Don't hesitate go grab a coffee and don't forget to check out the upstairs area.

This is an unreal space.. I think it really brings a breath of fresh air to Clarendon st. The decor is unreal, especially what upstairs has to offer is really something quite else. I'm excited to see the creativity the owners continuing bringing forward

I absolutely enjoyed everything from the decor, to the food, the coffee but especially the service. Felt welcomed into a fun atmosphere. This place has everything I love: coffee, art and awesome people. I know I found my regular hang out :)
