Fully vegan/plant-based Mexican eatery with multiple locations. Offers tacos with a variety of fillings such as jackfruit barbacoa, mushroom asada, chorizo, and no carne asada. Other menu items include flautas, two burritos, enchiladas, and a quesadilla. For dessert find churros, ice cream, and concha loca ice cream sandwich. Half of the building is open air and the other half is enclosed. (Private parking lot: From the freeway exit El Cajon Blvd - pass 30th St - turn right on Kansas - turn right into Renaissance Retail parking. No time limit.) Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-9:00pm.

Read moreFor the appetizer, I ordered the cheese fondue, and the cheese itself was really good—super flavorful and creamy. It came with plenty of bella mushrooms (which aren’t really my favorite), along with corn, diced tomatoes, and three flour tortillas. If you’re a mushroom lover, you’ll probably really enjoy this dish—it just wasn’t totally my thing.
For tacos, I tried a few different ones. The El Dorado taco, which had mashed potatoes, cheese, and pico, was okay—nothing bad, just not super memorable. I also had another taco with a small piece of sweet plantain; I wish it had more because the flavor was nice. The mole sauce on that one was actually really good and stood out the most. I also had a taco with fried avocado in beer batter topped with more guacamole, which was pretty good too.
For dessert, we got the fried Oreos with vanilla ice cream —crispy, sweet, and super satisfying.
The staff was friendly, and the food came out quickly, which I always appreciate. Overall, it was a solid experience with a few standout items, especially the dessert and mole sauce.

the food and service here are great! i love the location and design of the restaurant, and was super excited to try out some new vegan food. they have a very solid menu selection, and i like how many protein options they have.
Read morei tried the nachos and the taco platter, which were both delicious! the vegan proteins are very well made, and i thought that the sauces and flavor combinations were very well thought out. personally, my favorite taco that i tried was the plantain taco as it was unique in terms of flavor profile. the guac is also made fresh here and was quite tasty. the food also came out really fast given that there were quite a few people ordering and eating in the restaurant.
it was a little bit loud inside the restaurant, but it wasn't crazy or anything. overall, i would definitely recommend tacotarian for some quick service and delicious tacos!

portions were great, i liked the rice and beans but the cali burrito was very strange to me. taste was just off? tasted more like a cheeseburger than a burrito. always grateful for a fully vegan restaurant though.

I seem to be in the minority here, most everyone else in the app leaves rave reviews, but the food was a little bland for me. Could’ve used some more spices, hottest hot sauce option was not spicy and my tolerance is not that high. Kinda felt like a glorified vegan fastfood taco/burrito and I expected my mind to be blown based on the reviews.

Food came out in literally five minutes and it was so bland. Tried 4 tacos and nachos and more. Go to city tacos for good vegan and vegetarian tacos. They never disappoint.

So many tacos to choose from! Plus flautas , enchiladas, and burritos. Plenty of seating, and parking in the back. Cute vibe and friendly staff. We tried about 5 tacos and all were good. Dorado is a bit plain, but still fine. The rest were really good. Good chips and salsa. Margarita was a bit salty but I’m not a good judge of those. Will definitely go back.

Quick service. Got the taco platter: Barbacoa, mushroom asada, and bean & cheese tacos. Bean and cheese was incredible, Barbacoa was very flavorful but basically just the fake meat and a few onions-coulda had more to it, the mushroom asada was just mushrooms and onions and the mushrooms didn’t really taste marinated so pretty plain. The rice and beans and side salad were delicious!

Went back, friend wanted the Cali burrito again, I got a regular burrito with Barbacoa. It was decently good—super squishy with the beans in it, felt like it was missing something inside to firm it up. Barbacoa wasn’t as flavorful as it was in the taco. I was super hungry and didn’t get sides and the burrito was huge but after I probably could have eaten some sides. Still hungry.
Maybe I’ll go for enchiladas next time.

Super friendly staff really good tacos… but maybe avoid the beyond meat if your not a fan of that. The chips were also really yummy. Best vegan place I’ve been to in a while.
