Wow, what a great find in Yass - Edit

I was surprised to find this Thai takeaway shop in Yass. The staff are very friendly and they have a full vegan menu including three kinds of mock meats! I got a curry with the chicken and basil tofu, both were phenomenal. I'll be back. Don't miss this place if you find yourself in or passing through Yass #Veganuary

Small Town Suprise - Edit

Arrived in Yass on the evening of Good Friday, expecting to crack out baked beans for dinner with nowhere likely to be open. Driving past Silver Gully, we saw it was open for business. So glad we visited! They have an entire vegan-friendly vegetarian menu, complete with a big range of plant-based "meats". When we asked about fish/oyster sauce in the ingredients, we were assured by the vegetarian co-owner that everything in the sauces is likewise plant-based.

Between us we ordered satay "duck", sweet and sour "duck" and cashew "pork". The satay sauce is on the sweet side and heavy on coconut cream but tasty. Sweet & sour sauce has a nice little kick to it. The sauce in the cashew stir fry is red, seems to have 5-spice in it, and is absolutely delicious. Faux meats were all really tasty (the "pork" is BBQ style). Vegetables were crisp, fresh and plentiful. Portions – including rice – were very generous. We ordered two steamed rices between three and it was more than enough.

We also ordered some vege spring rolls. They're the cabbage-heavy variety but large and tasty.

Silver Gully is on our list of places to visit every time we're in Yass from now on!
