I hope they improved

I see it has been a while since the last review for this place.

I do share the negative experience of the previous reviewers although my visit is also a while ago. I remember I was extremely disappointed because I really loved Season when it was at its previous location in Schauenburgerstrasse. There was always a huge choice of fresh vegan food, it seemed very popular and the staff was friendly. So I made quite a detour to get to this new place and I really looked forward to it.

My experience at the Rathausmarkt location was very different. Grumpy staff, a few vegan options, bland lukewarm food... no wonder there were not too many people around. The staff said that was because of the vacation period and outside of that period there would be more vegan options, but seen all those tourists going to Hamburg during the vacation period I had my doubts. I never went back.

They still seem to be around. Am wondering if they improved and would love to see some newer reviews here...

Cons: grumpy staff, not many vegan choices, not tasty

not a great vegan selection, pricey

I agree with earlier reviews, this place is vegetarian but not very vegan-friendly. While dishes are marked vegan, the signs and font are very small which makes it annoying to check. There's maybe one vegan main dish, probably no dessert. And it's very expensive for a buffet where you can take only one plate. Would not recommend this to any vegan.

limited vegan options, expensive, food not great

They charge by the plate of food- with a large costing €13 (although this does come with a non vegan dessert). The food tasted as if it had sat out for a while, and the food wasn't terrible- but defiantly didn't feel worth €13. The iceberg salad was just long strips of lettuce- it felt lazily put together. It is a bit challenging to find, you have to enter the Bucers and go downstairs to find it. I will not be coming back here again, there is better vegan food in Hamburg.

Pros: some vegan options

Cons: price (charge per plate) , location

A bit disappointing!

Last week we went to Season, located to the right of the Rathaus. We entered the restaurant, it was completely empty. Hardly any food was available, only some leftovers. When we mentioned to the man behind the counter the bread was very dry, he didn't do anything about it. Not even offering some other bread or his apologies. There were a few things to choose from, but nothing really interesting. We went to Season because the idea reminded us of Tibits in London (we love to go there!!) but Season is nothing like that unfortunately!! So we don't recommend going to Season.

Tasty - but beware of coming to late!

If you are luck enough to arrive before the hot dishes run out, then you can enjoy a pretty tasty meal here.
The choice of hot food is much more limited than it used to be in the other season location (now closed), so there were 4 hot dishes when I was there.
The problem was, two of the platters were empty, and I was told it would be a problem to bring any fresh food due to lack of staff. Despite this, they charged me full price. So Eat-as-much-as-you-can really meant "choose from the leftovers".
I guess they may get their act together sometime, so I shall test again soon. The food itself is not half as good as in the original Season and even the salad buffet is a cheapy version of the original. But still, Season is still a very centrally located veggie place in the heart of Hamburg. [edit by staff]

Pros: Location, buffet eatery

Cons: hot dishes are not refilled, too expensive for very limited choice

Very Nice, will go back !

Very nice ambience in the midst of city, where you could also take visitors, as not many such restaurants around. Mostly continental food but we enjoyed the small Arabic menu. All-you-can-eat @ 14.50 is fine; you can take time and eat as many courses as you want:)
Definitely recommend and we will go back. But beware, not for families with small kids, as there's no space for kids to move around freely.

Pros: Location, Food variety & taste, Not over-expensive

Cons: Seating gives a 'bit cramped' feeling

Recommendable

We paid 10€ for a plate we filled on as much as we could. Most of the food at the buffet was vegan... and very tasty!
For 14.50€ you can have All-you-can-eat but we were full and satisfied with the one plate. We'd totally come back.
Unfortunately no vegan desserts available or at least we couldn't find a declaration.

Pros: Delicious food, good price, nice atmosphere

Vegetarian Grandeur

I have never come across a vegetarian establishment in such a grand and impressive setting. Right next to the Hamburg Town Hall in a fine building called the Bucerius Kunst Forum, Seasons is found in the basement with outdoor seating also available. The help yourself buffet food is of a very high standard with plenty of vegan choice. Prices are decent starting at 6.50 EUR for a small plate to 11.99 EUR eat as much as you want. Very impressive interior, a bit pompous perhaps, but why not. There are so many meat eating places like this so all credit to them. A bottle of house white is 12.50 EUR so all around the prices are fair. I prefer the look of the other Seasons round the corner as it has outside windows and a larger seating area.

Pros: grand setting, food, location

A good place for vegans

A buffet restaurant with mostly all vegan items. Nothing special and really no place to take a date, but nice for a short break or emergencies on shopping weekends. Kinda hard to find (it's in the basement of a museum).
