Limited options for vegans - Edit
Of the 3 vegan cake variants originally listed in the menu, one has been removed, and the second one was not finished baking yet (we went at 10am in the morning, so the latter is not really an issue). The final, and - at the time - only vegan cake option (chocolate with pears) was quite delicious, though.
Read moreThe have hot chocolate on the menu as well as oat milk available for coffee (for a surcharge compared to cow milk), but they cannot prepare vegan hot chocolate, which is a bit unfortunate.
In terms of savory options, there is one soup on the menu marked as vegan - or rather, it can be "made" vegan by just leaving out the sausages it usually comes with. The price remains unchanged with or without sausages, which strikes me as weird given the extra cost for oat milk.
To me, offering to leave animal parts out of a dish doesn't really communicate "vegan-friendly" and is pretty much what I'm asking for in most non-vegan places, anyway. Of course, still nice to have it in writing and know in advance that there's no animal broth involved.
Definitely a good place for a slice of cake on the very nice terrace in front of the castle with lovely views of the park and fountains.

Didn’t expect a vegan offer - Edit
The Schloss-Café offer includes an ice coffee, vegan ice chocolate and some vegan cakes. We enjoyed the chocolate pear cake. The location was amazing and the food was even better because we didn’t expect the possibility of a vegan ice coffee there.
