Great a for a lunch / Perfekt für Mittagessen - Edit

Cons: Limited Options (lunch)

Vegan again, great food - Edit
I had the lemongrass tofu, udon noodles and they were excellent and decently priced. Would definitely go back. I think this restaurant used to not be vegan, but both times I went the menu was entirely vegan and it says vegan on the door so am not clear.

Huge fried egg on my "vegan" dish - Edit
They served me a whole egg on-top of my vegan dish. And I think, maybe, they fed me chicken before.
Read moreI thought I'd found my go-to spot for lunch near-by the office. There's not many vegan-friendly options in this area, but Savory Chay literally had "vegetarian" and "vegan" written on their building, so I figured it was the safest bet in the area.
They even have a whole page in their menu titled "vegan specials". I picked one from it, pointed to it, ordered it. I double-confirmed with them that it was vegan. I'm 100% sure there was no message lost in translation because he said, "yes, that can be made vegan."
What came out was a dish of veggies & fried tofu surrounding a small pile of rice. On-top of the rice was a huge fried egg. I was shocked. I pointed to it and said, "vegan, vegan!" The waitress (who spoke broken english, and I don't speak German) said "vegan no egg" -- I wasn't sure if it was a question or a statement. Does she really not know what vegan is?
She disappeared for about 60 seconds and came back with my food. My best-guess is the egg went straight to the trash and I got the same plate back again.
They literally have "vegan" written on their wall, but they don't know what vegan is?
Yesterday I ordered vegan pho. There was tofu in it, but one piece of tofu looked surprisingly similar to chicken. I ate it without questioning because, well, I've eaten a lot of mock meats at 100% vegan restaurants before, and I took the benefit of the doubt.
But if they serve you egg and don't realize it's vegan, could it be that their vegan pho uses animal stock? Do you think they use separate cooking surfaces & utensils? I mean, if they gave me food with an egg on it, then gave me the plate sans egg, I doubt this restaurant has the slightest idea of what veganism is.
Well, after all, they do serve dead animals to hungry humans..
Pros: friendly
Cons: served egg on "vegan" dish, wasteful, non-comprehension of the vegan philosohpy

A great local Asian vegan cuisine place - Edit
Such a great little place. Very “local”, laid back. Very friendly service. The homemade sodas are a must (we had ginger lemon, thumbs up). Dumplings and fried wontons were lovely. Perfect amount for a starter. For the entree I had the avocado salad - very good and generous portion. GF had curried seitan duck, also very good. There are lots of other dishes we want to try so we’ll definitey be back again during this trip!

Highly recommended - Edit
Great tasting food, big servings, reasonable pricing. I would give half a star less, because we waited pretty long for the waiter so we could pay. But that was just a minor inconvenience.

We are looking lunch here where we were greeted nicely and ate a mango curry and green curry. Reasonably priced and good quantity. Only due to personal taste we found them quite sweet though but overall me and my boyfriend enjoyed.

Delicious - Edit
We had the sweet and sour stir fry and the mango curry, both were delicious and reasonably priced at 8.5 Euro each (Dec 2019). Menu available in English and German, most of the menu looked vegan although not identified.

Nice vegan option in this part of Berlin - Edit
A nice restaurant for this part of town! The peanut red curry was nice (though not the best I've tried), and it was the first time I had vegan duck & it was very well done!! Super friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and all in all pretty nice. Could've been a bit more flavourful! :-))

Heavy on seasoning - Edit
Everything we ordered tasted nice, despite the Thai style(more like Chinese) stir fry was a bit too salty, and the dessert, sesame ball, was too sweet for us. They use mock meats in some dishes, it’s said in the description of the dish on the menu clearly, you might can ask them to substitute it with tofu. The portion sizes are pretty big, I love it. Great value of money. Free WiFi and no service charge!!

So many options! - Edit
Everything on their menu is vegetarian, and I’d say most of it is vegan! We had the Hacao dumplings (#15 on the menu). I had the lemongrass tofu and my boyfriend had the udon noodles. I preferred his, but they were both great. They had so many options that I had a hard time choosing.

A lot of the desserts – if not all of them – looked vegan friendly because they use coconut milk. Definitely a great spot for southeast Asian food in Berlin!
Pros: Lots of vegan options., All veg!
