Every bowl has a story, and this is one of theirs…
April 2019 – the boys of Raw and Rice approached me to take over my break lease at St Lucia as part of their rapid expansion plans.
After two plus months of being stuffed around by them, with repeated assertions that they would be taking over my lease and many, many variation requests to the lease (which they seemed to view as a new lease, and didn’t quite get that they would be taking over an existing lease), which has ended up costing me huge $$ in legal fees, they decided to withdraw after being given a deadline to finalise things or move on.
Delays were usually related to them taking up to 2 weeks at a time to get documents and information back to the solicitors, in addition to apparently being busy with opening 2 other shops in the meantime.
A complete waste of time and money dealing with them which has led me to believe that they:
a) Never intended to take over the lease and just felt the need to waste my time and money or
b) Have started to experience money issues associated with their rapid expansion plans and were therefore wanting to delay taking over my lease till they were more financially stable (which they could’ve kept us informed about if this was the case rather than dragging it out for as long as they did and costing me money in legal fees which they are now refusing to pay).
A very disappointing experience dealing with them and future landlords should be wary of them pulling this same stunt with them as they try to continue their expansion plans into the future.
