As the restaurant was closed, we ordered some "Thai" food to our camping. I requested a mobile credit card terminal to pay, as I did not have cash. The food arrived, the terminal did not work. We agreed that I would go to the restaurant to pay the other day. The food had almost nothing to do with the famous Thai cuisine and it was barely edable. We had to throw most of it away, despite being very hungry after a long bike ride. The next day I went to the restaurant to talk to the owner. He told me I did not have to pay, as I was that disappointed with the food. I left. One hour later the delivery boy texted me, announcing his arrival on the campsite to collect the money nevertheless. Apparently the boss, after having talked to me for 20mins, telling me I did not have to pay, totally changed his mind and told the boy to come after me agressively. The tone was so inappropriate and borderline violent, that I was worried for our safety, so I had to go back to the restaurant to talk to the owner again. He was irritated, did not want to remember our previous conversation and told me to pay. After a heated conversation in the restaurant, I left and he told me that he would come after me and find me in a menacing tone. My wife was waiting in the car and told me to pay them nevertheless to avoid phyical violence. I went back and offered to pay. Suddenly he did not want to accept anymore. About to leave finally this sad place, I wanted to step out. But then the boy was back from a delivery, furious in rage, asking me to pay. He was so out of his mind that the boss had to distract him and told me to leave. This boy even wanted to go to the street and his body language and tone of voice was suggesting that he would have wanted to beat me. Well.. Maybe he was carrying a knife. I felt I was dealing with people that did not play fair at all!
This was by far the worst restaurant experience in my life. Sad to see what a pandemic can do to local people. Sad for the nice thai cook. Sad for a country where a word used to be a word.
