down town Boston

My Thai is strictly vegan....decor pretty pitiful but the food is good...portions are more than ample...dont order soup, starter and main!!!!!

Its good food at a reasonable price and there is not much else for vegans in the downtown area.

Pros: strict vegan, very wide variety menu

Cons: decor is not very appealing, no alcohol

Chinatown Vegan Must Visit

Shared two soups, Tom Yum Gai and Temple Soup, as well as the Pad Thai. All very good. Prices were very fair and with a 20% tip around $35 for two for lunch. Staff was very friendly and quick to clean up after patrons left. Would definitely visit again!

Pros: Delicious vegan traditional Asian food, Prices are fair, Friendly staff

Best Thai/East Asian food ever

I went back in 2021, it was just as amazing as it always was. Affordable and high quality plant-based food, and everything is fresh. The boba is great too. Probably my favorite restaurant I have ever been to, highly recommend.

Yummy

4.5 stars. Very yummy and quick service. The Thai mango salad in particular was excellent, and I was able to adjust the spice level by adding the sauce myself.

Don't expect the meat to be very much like real meat. The texture is sponge-y but it tastes good. I prefer tofu.

The venue is very no-frills and you need to walk up stairs to get to it.

Insanely delicious food

I’m shocked by so many low reviews! Food was amazing and super affordable. My favorites were the chive dumplings (more like fried stuffed pancake!), mango salad, and Penang curry with half mock duck. The pad Thai, pumpkin curry, and lemongrass chicken were also good too! I would come back again and again. The stairway up to the restaurant smelled a bit like smoke, but it’s Chinatown 🤷🏻‍♀️ actual restaurant was very clean, including bathrooms. Our server was also super nice and suggested dishes.

Pros: Delicious flavor, Plentiful and diverse mock meats!

Cons: Stairs up to restaurant are a bit worn down, Women’s bathroom was clean but cold

Tasty Food, Good Lunch Specials

More Chinese in style and service, this hole-in-the-wall Thai vegan joint in Chinatown is accessible via a cigarette smoke-pervaded stairwell on the second floor. So glad I persisted - the food is delicious, lunch specials at $13.50 varied and filling.

The Spicy Mango Curry (choice of protein, I opted for chick’un) comes with zucchini, squash, red pepper, onion, rice and a couple of delicious little dumplings; also a miniature tom yum soup on the side, so sweet that it could have counted as dessert.

I also tried the Pad Kee Mao with eggplant (choice of protein again, this time I opted for the tofu) - also delicious, if too much oil and not enough veggies. The meal did not arrive with ‘soup of the day’ or jasmine tea (which I wasn’t aware comprised components until today), so make sure you request these specifically or you may miss half the meal.

Pros: Delicious tasty meals, Good value Lunch Specials, Oriental backstreet charm vibes

Cons: Smoky stairwell, though kinda adds to ruticness, Service a bit hit and miss, but reasonable, Lunch specials - extras (eg tea) often forgotten

Great veg menu!

Walking around Chinatown was a highlight of my Boston trip, and this was a great stop! The iced coffee, wontons, and hot and sour soup were all great. Ordering pad thai was probably a mistake - not as adventurous as I should have been - but it was good, it a bit bland. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere felt a lot more authentic than other places in Boston.

Dull and Tired

This place has been here forever. Unfortunately, the food, while 100 percent vegan, is unimaginative and very salty. Every dish, including the hot and sour soup, seems to originate from the same brown sauce base.

Pros: Close to the theater district , Usually fast service , All vegan

Cons: Unimaginative , Very salty

Hole in the wall GEM!!!

Straight up: shabby surroundings. It’s old and run down. BUT THE FOOD…. SOOOO good! One of those hidden treasures. IYKYK. Don’t go here for a romantic date looking for “ambiance.” Do go if you want bomb vegan food, period.

Bad service + okay food

They never came over to tell me today they didn’t have the ingredients for my dish. Sat there for 20 mins while they kept saying “one more minute.” Finally, I had to go to them and they told me to order something else. Food was only okay.

Amazing food

I understand some of the lower scores for the service (friendly but frantic) and state of the bathrooms (clean on the parts that mattered but…)

All of that said… omg the FOOD! Love having a vegan menu, love the options to go fake meat or tofu, loved everything we ordered.

To me this place follows the rule that you can get the best food from the least auspicious-looking places.

Pros: Food, Options, Variety

Quaint and unusual

At one end of Beach street, Up the stairs on the second floor.
Fairly down to earth, which really worked for me. Everything on the menu is vegan.
I had a tasty and filling meal for $25 before tax and tip.
I am on holiday in Boston and
I would definitely recommend.

Pros: Wholesome food., Large portions.

Cons: Little tricky to find.

Quick vegan Thai

We had a great meal here. Don’t let the entrance and stairs, which are very shabby and grubby, put you off ! Go up the stairs and into a very plain dining area. It’s a no-frills place. Everything is vegan, quite a lot of mock-meat but plenty of other dishes as well. Huge portions. Service very quick and to the point. Iced water brought immediately and topped up through the meal. Delicious food. Very good value. Definitely recommend if you want a quick no frills vegan meal. Please note not any good for gluten free options though.

Tasty options

Surprisingly delicious - they successfully recreated many Thai classics (pad Thai, etc) plant based with no loss of flavor. Chicken fingers were tasty but in retrospect a bit disappointing - only tofu with breading, would love to have seen them try some experiments with mushrooms. Nonetheless very solid spot and large, ambitious menu.

Delicious and massive menu

So many things to choose from, I wish I could’ve tried more! The pad kee mao was so good, and I’m picky with my drunken noodle. The dumplings were also excellent. Cool interior, too.

Pros: Large menu, All vegan!

Cons: A non-coconut milk for the Thai tea would be greaf

Outrageously tasty food

Made a point of visiting here while in Boston for the marathon. Everything we tried was really tasty but a special mention needs to be made for the Tamarind duck which was so so good. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Best vegan food I've ever had

A regular stop anytime im in the area. Ive brought meat eaters here who said it was some of the best food they've ever had. Long wait times for meals though so be ready for that.

Pros: Amazing food, Great location

Cons: Long wait times, Dive bar bathrooms
