Top 5 Restaurants for Eating Vegan/Gluten-Free in Hong Kong - Edit
This place has been moved once and their previous spot was actually much large and had an open space compared to the current one on Des Voeus Road in a mall.
Read moreOverall Maya's biggest different from other restaurants is that they have especially diverse options in raw food items. They have raw soups, raw salad, raw noodles, raw desserts and they even have raw burgers and raw risottos!
I've been here a couple of times and they do offer an amazing looking healthy menu to satisfy all your dietary needs. But I personally find the food a little bit on the bland side and not as flavorful as a salad/zoodles/dessert can get. Maybe it's also related to their Mediterranean origin? Plus they are on the more expensive side so I can't really live on this on a daily basis... T.T
That being said, I would still recommend this to anyone who's into a raw vegan diet and want to try out how commonly seen food can be made into a raw version. Anyways, it's not easy to make cauliflower rice, raw cheesecake or noodles at home right? :P
My ratings:
Flavor - ★★★
Environment - ★★★
Price - ★★★ (Most main items are above $120HKD and it's unlikely to have only a main for a full meal without any dessert or snack, at least for me LOL)
Location - ★★★ (Make sure you have your map ready when you visit for the first time)
Vegan/gluten-free options: ★★★★★
Overall - ★★★
Recommendation: Raw burger and various desserts

Okay... a little pricey - Edit
When I visited this cafe for the first time, I thought it was a 100% vegan cafe. Later only I found out they do serve dairy milk for their beverage. The food is alright, good presentation but not as tasty as they seem. Tried their afternoon lunch set, still a little pricey though.

Maya Mediterranean - Edit
Maya Cafe is a great option if you are looking for european-style food in the Sheung Wan area. I was here last week with the Hong Kong Meat Free Meetup and it was a good chance to try a number of different dishes.
Read moreThe pesto risotto was superb, with a cashew-based pesto which was nothing short of the regular parmesan pesto. We also had vegan cashew pate and vegan cheese, which were quite surprising, the pate being very similar to traditional liver-based pates.
The dessert (chia berries pannacota) was delicious and not too sweet. Finally, we also had an asparagus creme and a vegan boullabaise-style stew, both quite tasty and filling.
The staff was really nice and attentive. In general I would reccommend anyone interested in trying vegan european food to give Maya vegetarian a try. Both the food and the ambiance are worth it.
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff

Maya Cafe - Sheung Wan, Hong Kong - Edit
I eat here quite often either with my better half and maybe one of two others with a meetup group I help organise. The food is terrific, creative, inventive, tasty, healthy. They also have vegan booze for those who like a tipple.

excellent place to eat - Edit
Excellent expérience, very good food (good and nice portion), very friendly people. The owner, a French lady is putting lots of love in her food and it's just great. Thank you so much.

Nice food - Edit
I went to this place for dinner last Friday and it was pretty nice. I had the pasta with meatless balls and it was actually quite filling. They were booked for a private event when I went though so I had only less than 45 mins to order and finish eating...a bit stressful. So next time I'll probably make sure nothing's going on before I go :)

best raw vegan cakes I've ever had. - Edit
I go here whenever I'm anywhere near to get some of their raw vegan cakes (in all honesty sometimes I'm tempted to take the train over from Kowloon whenever I think about their cakes!) the red velvet cake is a big favourite and is incredible. As are the brownies and lemon tarts. I need to actually sit down and have a meal or get a take away soon as everything is raw and looks fantastic. Amazing staff too.
