Read moreOne of the best days our family spent together recently was grabbing brunch at Mattie's, a half-day outing, and returning to Mattie's for dinner. Yes, it's that good.
We had the biscuit sandwich with sausage and a peach cobbler-topped cinnamon roll. So good I was trying to describe them and was just kind of speechless and staring with stars in my eyes.
Then we had a BBQ sandwich with greens and the spicy loaded mac. Their mac n cheese!!! and the way they cook their bbq tofu gives such a great texture and flavor.
I've also loved their loaded nachos and actually every single thing I've tried of theirs, whether from their VegFest booth, their food truck, or now their brick and mortar restaurant. So happy for these amazing women, and so happy for KC to have Mattie's.

The breakfast sandwich was pretty good. They were unfortunately out of bacon though. I also got a side of hashbrowns, and was disappointed to find out they're just the little frozen hashbrown rounds for $6.

I bring my omnivore mama here for lunch on occasion as she lives nearby. I absolutely LOVE the food here, and my mom does too! I would come here weekly if I lived close. Very flavorful food and the people are so warm and inviting.

I really wish I enjoyed Mattie’s more than I did. The food was alright. It was cold by the time we got it. Service was lacking. I was missing an item from my plate but I had no one to tell as they stayed in the kitchen after we got our food.

We tried the biscuit sandwich, chicken Philly, peach cobbler, and banana pudding. Everything was delicious and I honestly don't think you can go wrong with anything you order off of the menu! The person behind the counter was incredibly nice and suggested the banana pudding with our order. We'd planned on taking it to go but it was exceptional and we finished it (and everything!) before ever leaving Mattie's. Make here a priority if you're in Kansas City!

My first time here and wasn't sure what to order. The woman working maybe the owner, suggested the nachos and said it was their best seller. I got them with jackfruit and it was delicious. Generous serving as I couldn't eat it all and have enough for a snack later.

I've had the breakfast burrito, and it was really tasty. Potatoes perfectly spiced, and delicious seitan. I was so full!! I've also had the nachos, and they were delicious!!!! I love this place, and will come back when I'm in town!!!

Delicious comfort food. Had a sandwich and the taco salad (this was more chips than salad but the toppings were great, loved the jackfruit addition!), candied yams (YUM), baked beans, plus all the desserts. Do NOT sleep on these desserts, esp the banana foster!! Will be visiting every time we’re in the area!!

I was wowed by the customer service at Mattie’s, they treated me as a valued guest, and are in a first-name basis with some of the regular customers. I had heard good things about the spicy nachos and they were off-the-charts amazing. The buffalo sauce for their seitan lingered on my palate all day.

Everything on their menu is great. The space is beautiful. The nachos are the best nachos I've had, and adding their mac to them just takes it to another level. My go-to has been the spicy BBQ tofu nachos + mac for a while now, but I think I'm getting ready to switch this up to their buffalo nachos or spicy seitan because it's all great. Their breakfast food is also awesome, and I love that a lot of it is sold at a few coffee shops around KC as well. And now they've got some salads on their menu too. I tried their buffalo chik'n salad the other day, and it was great.
