Ate here for the second time today. Today's weekend menu was really nice... The Ukrainian borscht was really well done, reminded me of home😄And the soy goulash was a great main course, very filling with the potato dumplings. For dessert I had chocolate bread, and to drink I had hot chocolate. Yes, I like chocolate. :D
Read moreHowever, I was disappointed to learn today that Las Weges offers cow's milk. (I was offered this option when ordering the hot chocolate, along with almond milk and pea milk.) Reading further, it seems like they claim to have been offering cow's milk for 8 years? Well...whatever their reasons, it is always a bit disappointing to see an establishment that you believed to be one that aligns with vegan values in fact does sell animal products to appease customers that prefer animal products...rather than taking the opportunity to offer a wider range of plant milks, and not compromising in convincing sceptical omnivores that plant milks are indeed really good! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed their food offering, their menu is definitely top-tier in plant-based cooking: tasty, tasteful and authentic. But in a city like Kraków with such a large number of vegan restaurants, I am unlikely to return to Las Weges as long as I know that that they still offer dairy.
If the owners of Las Weges are reading this, I respectfully ask them to reconsider offering cow's milk, and make a decision grounded not only in commercial considerations (appealing to vegans Vs. appealing to omnivores), but in the values that I hope they share with us...and in their empathy for the cows exploited and killed by the dairy industry, which I'm sure they're aware of. You make really nice dishes, no hate :)
In the meantime, I respectfully ask the administrators of HappyCow to reclassify this establishment from "vegan" to "vegetarian," so as not to mislead users of the app.

Wonderful atmosphere and decor. All vegan menu. Food and drink was delicious. A short walk from the Kampus UJ tram stop. I had a Korean bimimbap (choice of 2 sauces) and an apple and rhubarb pastry for pudding. Well worth a visit out of town.

Food is either 4/5 or 5/5 - depends on the day😄The staff is very kind. It's also very quiet and peaceful inside. Ruczaj doesn't have many vegan options available so I it's great that it has Las Weges.
