So good for my mixed vegan/Omni fam! - Edit
We found this place on happy cow and loved it! The tofu pastor can be added to anything. The beans and rice are vegan and the salsa is delicious. It's a local business that supports local farmers so the ingredients are fresh and quality! Big plates, great service, cute environment and right downtown Merced. As a traveler headed home from camping in the mountains this place was the perfect dinner out!

Al Pastor Tofu Oh My! - Edit
The clearly prominent vegan menu on the wall is a great sign when walking in, and the flavor does not disappoint! We had the enchilada plate and the nachos elote (both with al pastor tofu). All the food was scrumptious, so J&R Tacos has two new regular customers!

Flavorless - Edit
Literally the most flavorless salsa and food. Our whole group thought they forgot to season the food. No joke. The red salsa is watered down tomato paste and pico. The green salsa is blended up jalapeño and water. Again, spicy... but no flavor.
Read moreI have eaten at places far and wide. This had to take the prize for best looking yet most flavorless.
Loved the rainbow flag and progressive spirit in this spot! That is about it.
Pros: A whole vegan menu, Great looking little spot, Friendly staff for the most part
Cons: Flavorless, Flavorless, Flavorless

They know vegan - Edit
Taco joint 2nd generation run. They can make most of their entries vegan. Tacos, burritos, and really good tamales. Pretty popular place for the locals. Place to eat inside or out on Main Street.

Tofu al pastor is terrific! - Edit
I’ve always loved J and R, but now that they’ve developed the tofu al pastor burritos and tacos, I love it even more. They are absolutely delicious! Lots of other vegan and veggie options on offer too.

Unfortunate - Edit
They messed up my order many times, the first few times they added onions when I specified no onions, that was alright, however I asked for no cheese and they put cheese it in, it spoiled my appetite.

it was ok - Edit
It was crazy busy when we went so it's understandable why service was slower, but the hot sauce for the chips came in tiny containers. You have to specifically ask for more to get enough and even then the containers are too small to dip your chip in. The food was ok. I got the Damian.
