Good, but not great, vegetarian food - Edit
This place is a solid vegetarian restaurant, with good but not exceptional food. I would cast the style of food as international but with a distinctively German twist. Features include gnocchi, some curry dishes, and risotto.
Read moreThe menu is very large, but on quick inspection you find that there are only about ten or so dishes with many small variations. The food is tasty, but tends to be on the heavy/fatty side. The portions are large -- the daily specials come with an appetizer and all dishes come with a dessert from the bakery.
The menu has a page for vegans which is marked, although I did not try any of the dishes. They looked like they might not have sufficient sources of protein. Many of the vegetarian dishes rely on cream or cheese.
The restaurant itself is small and is busy on most nights. I would recommend going early or getting a reservation. The decor is nice, but not fancy. It looks like they have street-side seating in the summer. You must enter through the bakery which is extremely cramped. Both times I went the staff was friendly and helpful and the waiters spoke English. I don't know if they have an English menu.

Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Allein schon wegen der tollen Bedienung. Da fühlt man sich einfach sofort wohl!

Wow! The vegan selection wasn't big but the two things I got were absolutely amazing. I also had a vegan lasagne, which was just okay - come here for the cakes rather than the mains.

Read moreThe restaurant offers both cooked food and cakes and I would say I was really impressed by both the variety of vegan cakes they had but also the taste. I had the vegan strawberry cake and enjoyed it a lot, it was creamy and the strawberries tasted good.
I also really enjoyed this place as they staff is super friendly and helpful and will definitely come back to have dinner to try their food when I'm back in Munich.

Lovely oldschool vegetarian family restaurant - Edit
Delicious and unusual dishes, homemade with organic and wholefood ingredients. The restaurant feels like a lovely oldschool vegetarian place from the old days, with honest seitan, lots of tasty flavours and spices. In a way it feels less professional than the hip, and more expensive vegan startups of today, but it's so clearly a labour of love and idealism that this is really a wonderful thing. Also, in twins of prices, they can't be beat: Less than 14€ for a main with a piece of cake!

I think this is not usual: but got to take a bag of bakery goods just before business finish for free. So cool and still fresh. Next time will ask if can do regularly and will drop at the food sharing.

Ich war zu meinem 23.Geburtstag dort, nicht Nur der Service war super, sondern auch das Essen. Meine Eltern leben beide nicht vegan und fanden es auch wirklich gigantisch und waren sogar nochmal ohne mich dort. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist gut und ich freue mich wenn ich dort irgendwann wieder sitzen kann :)

Gestern war ich erstmals da und muss gestehen, dass nach meinem Besuch ich total begeistert war. Da gibt es zahlreiche super köstliche veganen Optionen. Meine Freundin und ich haben 2 vegane Gerichte bestellt, und, glaub mir, beide schmeckten mega lecker! Und die Nachspeise.. Sprachlos. Ohne jeden Zweifel haben sie eine neue Fan gewonnen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

I love the breakfast there, it's all vegetarian, vegan options are available and marked. Staff is really friendly. You can sit outside quite comfortably, not so much space inside though. Better make a reservation. Went there for dinner once and had takeaway Wakame spring rolls which were divine as well.

Yall I can't rave enough about Cafe Ignaz. I've lived in Munich since 2016 and I love going here soooo much😄The sad part is that many times I've gone by without a reservation (even on a weeknight) and they had no availability.... so make sure you make a reservation the day of! The sweets here are scrumptious, servers super kind in English, and vegan dishes so comforting and rich in flavor. I'd definitely suggest you go to the brunch on weekends!!! Its such a special treat when I go. It's only 13 euro I believe and unlimited. Most things are vegan, but ask them which and they'll let you know. Did I mention theres unlimited vegan desserts available??! I love it! Go by!
