Very good food, funny location - Edit
On first glance this place seems a bit odd: It is a Nepalese restaurant built into a German pub. The bar (even the drinks) and some of the Carnival decoration (which is a big thing in this area) is still there and also the furniture does not look particularly Nepalese. Plus, they painted all the walls in bright orange, which makes this places even weirder.
Read moreBUT, the food they serve is absolutely great in in particular awesome for vegans: More than half of their menu is vegan or easy to be made vegan (and clearly marked as such). Everything we had tasted great and the owners are friendly and very accommodating.
If you are in Mainz, this place is well worth the (quite nice) walk over the bridge!
(Note that there has opened another Nepalese restaurant in Biebrich, only 6 or 7 km from this one, which has a similar menu, also great quality. The two seem not to be related, it is just a strange coincidence)

War hier in Mainz auf einer Veranstaltung, vegan war aus, hatte aber übelst Hunger. Kurz vor Schluss reingerannt und sofort sehr nett was veganes zusammengestellt bekommen. Super leckeres, richtig pikantes Linsengericht. War sehr nett und sehr schmackhaft und hat mir den Abend gerettet.

Read moreHe is taking some time to cook with love and it tastes delicious! My recommendation would be to go there with a little bit of time and don't be in a hurry. But it is worth waiting.

The waitress was very friendly and we did not wait too long since the restaurant was completely empty (on an evening in the weekend!). We ordered an Indian, Nepali and a Tibetan dish, Momos, a soup and a dessert. Sadly, EVERY single one of these was really, really bad. I never experienced food before that was prepared with such a low level of taste and love. I am sorry, but this was really disappointing.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. The restaurant looks a bit outdated, but the food is amazing. There were a lot of vegan options, I was a bit overwhelmed by it ;-)

The owner was very friendly. I would have given 5 stars if possible. It is totally worth the walk from Mainz city center.

Die Auswahl an veganen speisen war großartig, ich glaube ich war noch nie in einem indisch/nepalesischen Restaurant mit mehr Auswahl (auch bei Vorspeisen und Desserts) , noch dazu war die Bedienung bei jeder Frage sehr geduldig und erklärte uns alles. Und auch das essen selbst war sehr sehr lecker! Vor allem die momos und das griesdessert waren spitze. Werden auf alle fälle wieder herkommen.

My husband and I had the spinach and tofu main and the Chana masala main. Both were so delicious and flavorful! We also had the vegan momos as an app, which were tasty, too. I came here for the clearly listed vegan options and I'll be back because I was not disappointed. They go out of their way to assure you your food is vegan and not give you the feeling that they don't really know what vegan means, which we all know the feeling of so well. Recommended for fellow vegans for a delicious, authentic, Indian meal.

We went to this place because it was close to our campsite and we were not disappointed, to say the least. The food was exquisite. We had momo's for starters and a saag tofu and aloo chana masala as main dishes. My boyfriend said this was the most authentic south-Asian food he's had since living in India and was super excited. It's very hard to find good Nepalese food outside of Asia and so finding this was a real treat and surprise. Really lovely owners, definitely go - we highly recommend!

Vegan-friendly Nepalese restaurant - Edit
It’s a Nepalese restaurant that’s really veg-friendly: Many non-vegan dishes are available in a vegan version, and the menu clearly indicates what is vegan and what can be made vegan. So there is lot’s to choose from, e.g. very yummy starters like samosas, momos, potato-rolls , as mains they have different lentil dishes (superb), Palak Tofu (a spinach curry with tofu instead of paneer-cheese), an eggplant curry, spicy vegetable dishes and so on.
Read moreThe ambience could be better - I think the owners cannot afford to renovate everything and to buy new furniture, so they integrated what was already there from previous owners. Sometimes they play the mantra "Om mani padme hum" in an endless loop - like many places in Nepal. The heating doesn't seem to work very well - it is advisable to bring a light jacket. In my opinion the quality of the food and the friendly staff make up for that!
They also offer delivery/take-away.
