Serves meat, vegan options available. Established since 1987, this place makes traditional North Indian cuisine. The chef is vegetarian and takes care to prepare veg food separately. Reported closed Feb 2020.
Wollongong was busy on New Years Eve and it was great to find this place. We sat outside and the owner was very helpful with the menu. He suggested they were very careful when preparing vegan dishes. We had vegetable samosas and onion Bajhi to start. We then had saffron rice with aloo matar and daal. We washed this down with Victoria Bitter beer. All good.
Interior is small yet very cosy. The menu was easy to decipher, items are labelled with "dairy free" and "vegetarian" so it's easy to pick out what's vegan due to the clear descriptions of the food. Some of the veg curries weren't so clear to us, for example one mentions butter, but we didn't feel like asking the staff about the 3 or so other vegetarian curries ingredients and cooking methods, so we picked the Daal and pea and potato dish. I did think the portion sizes were small but combined with naan bread and rice, we ended up so very full. The staff were pleasant and constantly asked for feedback. We had two curries, three sides and two drinks and it was under $50! I would recommend this place to other vegans and vegetarians!
