Best burrito I’ve had in my life! - Edit
Had a great experience here. Came to the island from Playa De Carmen for the beautiful beach and stopped here for lunch. The service was great and the breakfast burrito(best vegan burrito I’ve ever had to date) and the cauliflower tacos were the perfect!

Gem in Paradise - Edit
Chaya and Cacao was delicious! It’s a cute charming vegetarian restuarant with plenty of vegan options. I got the flautas, they were so good! Definitely a gem in paradise.

Yes, the best vegan option in Isla Mujeres! - Edit
We tried almost every vegan places on the island, there are some good ones, but this IS the best one. Even they had some organic eggs on the menu, still the best place. Ordered the bowl and the chilaquiles. Juices are awesome. We came back for the empanadas and the flautas. Sorry we discovered it two days before we left.

Every dish can be ordered vegan or with bio / organic eggs. They are currently opened 9am - 3pm.

Even Mexican-style breakfast like Flautas and Empanadas is available 😁
The French toast and the vegan 'eggs' Benedict were perfect. My friend also liked Flautas (the green sauce is not my taste) and the Empanadas (great!)
Definitely visit Chaya & Cacao when you're staying in Isla Mujeres.
EDIT: we visited Chaya & Cacao a second time during our two days-stay. pictures of vegan bowl, vegan breakfast sandwich and vegan avocado toast attached. Spoiler: everything was perfekt 😁🌱

Good falafel bowl - Edit
We had the falafel bowl which was good. The restaurant is situated in the center of the northern part of the island. The place inside was really nice but the food a little expensive.

Good option for Isla - Edit
Cafe is cute and FrenchToast and smoothies were very good. It’s a bit overpriced, but on par with other dining options on this island. I’d go back and try some other dishes but it’s a bit of a bummer that they call themselves vegan yet serve eggs. Makes me suspicious of what I’m eating and of course feel like I need to clarify that other items are indeed vegan.

The whole menu can be ordered vegan (including all breakfast with eggs) . They don't offer 'real' bacon, it's made out of rice paper. The do offer organic eggs, so it's vegetarian :)

Mostly Vegan kosher kitchen - Edit
Using the 'vegan near me' search on my phone, this place popped up and it was a good find. It's an easy walk from most of the hotels on North Beach. It's independent and definitely unique. It was very creative cuisine and the staff truly seemed to enjoy being there. They offered locally sourced fresh black pepper corns that were on the vine maybe a day or two prior to being brought to your table freshly ground. We dined there three times during our stay and when we go back it will be on top of our list to return. Breakfasts and lunches mostly but I understand they also do dinners. you can't go wrong with this place.

Fresh food - Edit
The cauliflower tacos were wonderful and the lemonade was perfect on a hot day. The cats (who the restaurant is named after) were so cute. The staff was attentive and friendly. I noticed the restaurant attracts a definite clientele of modern new age hippy types and saw lots of friendly conversations amongst the new friends. Seems like a great place to meet people and enjoy a smoothie on the quaint terrace.

An Absolute Lifesaver on Vacation!!! - Edit
I cannot rave enough about Chaya y Cacao! First of all, the restaurant is named after the owner's two cats... so that is already enough to convince me to go LOL. And the cats hang out in and around the restaurant so we got some much needed kitty affection while away from our baby.
Read moreAs far as the food and service go, both were unbelievable! We stayed at Mia Reef (all inclusive) and there were practically zero vegan options at the resort. My fiance and I ordered Chaya y Cacao's falafel salad, smoothie bowls, tacos, smoothies, and empanadas over the course of five days, and we were absolutely blown away! The food was delicious and fresh and clearly made with love. Our waitress, Hannah, was incredibly sweet and helpful, and every other employee was kind and attentive. The only thing is I believe they're closed Sundays so make sure they're open before you head over. They also accept PayPal as payment so you don't have to blow through pesos which was super convenient for us. Basically, this place was vegan heaven!
Pros: Accepts PayPal as payment, Reasonably Priced, Delicious vegan food!
