Best cornbread in America - Edit
Came here for a date with my lovely wife on her birthday. We got the oyster mushrooms, mac & cheese cornbread that works! Everything was more delicious than the last bite. Highly recommend.

Tasty. - Edit
I was fearful of the mushroom heavy menu, but was able to navigate it. Not sure you have heard, but mushrooms are creepy.
Read moreAnywho. Next time I’m looking forward to trying one of the sandwiches.
Got the jungle hibachi with egg rolls. Egg rolls were great, chicken surprisingly good and flavors just right. Portion large enough to take some home.
Fried lasagna my wife got was 🔥. Kind of like the love child of lasagna and St. Louis fried ravioli. With some pizazz.
We took some of that home too. Order at kiosk, cute space, “for here” food comes in to-go containers. Off putting at first but we did use them to take our leftovers home😄

Really delicious - Edit
As much as I would love to say this place is overpriced and to save your money, the food is, unfortunately, really good. Had the lasagna rolls and the oxtail Mac and cheese. The oxtails were out of this world, super tender and flavorful. The lasagna has a touch of spice too. I’d recommend going during happy hour from 2-6 to shop their deals. They also have a taco special on Tuesday but I haven’t tried their tacos yet. Always happy to see another vegan soul food place, and while the prices are high, the food did not disappoint.

AI Usage - Not Good - Edit
I tried the Green Ape, as I had heard it was good from reviews online and I really wanted to try it! The food was good, but it was a bit expensive.
Read moreAs a vegan establishment that promotes to vegans who believe in reducing harm, the usage of AI for its logo and advertisement is quite hypocritical and ironic. I will not be returning unless this changes. I understand that this is a small business, but there are so many artists, especially in the city of Chicago, that I am sure would love to help design a logo or advertise. I think this should be a moment of reflection about whether our veganism (for those who are vegan for ethical and environmental reasons) is actually being applied to all aspects of our lives, including what we tolerate and support. The distinction for me is moral, so even though the marketing is towards vegans and the food is good, I will not be tolerating this.
Cons: AI usage

Excellent food, a bit pricey - Edit
I had the Green Ape Soul Plate and ended with a Vanilla Bean cupcake for dessert. It was all delicious! The atmosphere inside is great. But the prices seemed a little high for what you get. Also, if dining in, it would be nice to get the food on a plate instead of throw away packaging and plastic cutlery. The service is good but it’s mostly self-serve with the ordering kiosks.

blew my MIND!! - Edit
i’ve been a vegan almost 5 years, and in all of that time, i have NEVER had a vegan chicken sandwich this good. oh my god!!!!
Read moremy boyfriend and i were visiting from portland and looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled across this place and let me tell you, we were NOT disappointed. the texture and taste of the fried oyster mushrooms in the sandwich astounded me, especially as a notorious mushroom disliker! the lasagna rolls had us moaning out loud, the Alfredo pasta had my boyfriend in complete shock at how delicious it was while still light and smooth.
overall, i wish i could give this place 10 stars. we will absolutely come here first on our next visit!!

Kinda pricey - Edit
Food is good but for what you get it feels very expensive. Not sure the portions justify the price. Mushrooms are nicely breaded and seasoned, mac is pretty creamy and nice, fries are fine but slightly soggy. Overall still good

DELICIOUS! - Edit
While trapped in Chicago I searched HC and saw a new spot to try. Food was delicious! Bought enough for 2 and managed to consume it all. So yummy! Everything down to what has to be homemade hot sauce.

A welcome addition to Chicago’s Vegan food scene - Edit
Always love seeing new vegan restaurants open! We had the wings, fried lasagna, and jungle hibachi noodles. The wings (in the hot not honey sauce) and lasagna were amazing, would come back again and again just for those. Would absolutely recommend visiting for those items! The jungle hibachi was only ok, the rolls were not very crisp and somewhat bland. The noodles were good, but nothing special. We did feel that all of the food items were a bit overpriced; each item was around $20 each.
