Great Vegan Options! - Edit
There’s a whole vegan menu!! And I was impressed that they had butcher’s son vegan meats! I was biking through DOCO trying to find a meal to bring on the train ride back to the Bay Area after work. This hit the spot! I had 35 minutes before departure and was on my way 14 minutes after ordering. I will be coming back.

Read moreFrankly the sandwiches are overpriced, but good nonetheless. Nothing unique about their ingredients, I could understand the price point if it was in house sauces or bread, but that isn’t the case.
Had the Surfin Bird day one. Got an extra large which was stacked, but again, even in the Bay with vegan options a sandwich like this is a solid $3-7 cheaper so again, price point is wild. They did add cucumbers without an extra fee, so that was gracious of them.
I had the vegan classic with pastrami and the vegan stomper nachos half size for my second trip there. Again, food was good, but the price points aren’t justifiable. For this trip I wanted to phone in my order and not wait, but when I called they asked me to hold then never came back. Finally hung up after at least 7 minutes, started walking over and tried calling twice more only for their line to be busy. I let them know when placing my order and the employee seemed annoyed but apologized.

I never loved Beach Hut Deli growing up. But I have a theory…a vegan theory….and it goes like this:

One of the most difficult things for me since going vegan has been the growing cravings for food whose itch can’t be scratched.
And then enters Beach Hut Deli in DOCO. I never even knew I wanted a vegan surfin bird - but I got it folks. And it’s exactly how I remember it. And my itch is SO scratched, even though I didn’t know it was there.
The owner is amazingly sweet, and I’m so proud of him for what he’s done. You just have to STAN the guy. He even invented a Beach Hut tempeh sandwich! The Oreo cheesecake will blow your mind.
Beach Hut should see what he’s doing and bring these vegan items to ALL locations. Honestly I think he should just take over the company, I’d support it.

Butcher’s Son “Meats” in Sac!!! - Edit
So awesome to have a local Beach Hut Deli have Butcher’s Son’s “meats”! The is the only BHD that has them as this franchise is owned by a vegan. I had the vegan classic with pastrami and smoked Gouda and it was excellent! The vegan Oreo cheesecake was also bomb…don’t skip that!

It’s like a beach bar mixed with a sports bar. Loud (good) music, big screens and a huge draft beer menu.
Visiting from the UK and really enjoyed the experience.

Butcher's Son vegan options! - Edit
I rarely get to Downtown but had occasion to go there for lunch today so figured Id make my way over to Beach Hut to finally try their vegan menu. Before I was vegan I'd eat there weekly so I was so glad to re-visit my old favorite Surfin' Bird. It was great! Next time I'll get the vegan Marley Nachos.

HUGE vegan menu. Listen, I have been craving a hot, well-protein stuffed, sandwich since going vegetarian/vegan. This was FINALLY it. I got the turkey and cheese, asked for it toasted and it satisfied the child in me who absolutely loved Potbelly’s/Quiznos. They serve Butcher’s Son “meat” and they don’t skimp on the portions. It looks like any other sandwich not like a lot of places that only give you a measly slice of vegan “meat”.
