Nice dinner - Edit
I definitively recommend this place for having a dinner with friend or family. It is elegant, with many choices and very reasonably priced. The bowls are of every taste (recommended seitan on a sugar cane!!) and very filling. Also the staff is very nice and attentive.

Nice food and location - Edit
The food here is ordered by a slip of paper (Argos style!), and you choose between big or small bowls. There is more choice with the small bowls so for 2 people we ordered four small bowls and 2 noodle portions. The food was good, I especially liked the dumplings and the fried seitan balls. I'd like to try a few other things next time.

Delicious food, fun atmosphere - Edit
I have been to 1990 several times and just love it. The food is inventive and delicious AND 100% vegan. It consists mainly Vietnamese tapas - small bowls to share. Not too pricey. Nice smoothies and drinks as well; amazingly fragrant rose tea with real rose buds floating in it. Staff is mostly friendly. Decor is the perfect mixture of cozy, ethnic, and hip. It gets very busy on week-end nights. So go during the week!

DEFINITELY TRY:
Read moreLove this place, such a great idea, small tapas sized bowls and extra rice is only €1, very good value. Sometimes when I'm not very hungry, I can even get away with a curry bowl and rice, total bill €4.50, but the food is so good I usually get at least one or two more bowls, even then, only €11.50 for three bowls with rice.
The only downside is the thick-set head waiter, who is very rude to the staff and customers, never smiles, it's very embarrassing and off-putting for all. If they get rid of him, it will be perfect, quite often I don't go in if I see him working. I have a feeling he is part of the family, so they can't sack him.
Pros: Versatile portions, Great location, Inexpensive
Cons: Grumpy head waiter

Probably the best vegan restaurant - Edit
This is the first fully vegan restaurant where the desserts are not the best part of the menu.
Read moreImmense variety of food choices. Definetely suitable for non-vegans/vegetarians too as you have absolutely no idea of missing anything is the taste palet and menu.
We enjoyed the flavours, the presentation of the food, the quickness of serving and last but not least the price quality relation. For two persons we ate way too much, we drank more than necessary, but had to pay €60,- only.
Pros: variety of choices on menu, price

The concept is good but it lacks flavor - Edit
I love the idea you can get many small plates and mix it up, the quality of the food is good overall, very fresh, the 2 stars are because of the flavor, I ordered like 8 things and all of them were very sweet, everything is extremely on the sweet side even the spicy dishes are non spicy and super sweet, the flavor of things individually is fine but when you order more than one thing (which is the whole concept of this place) the sweetness of everything is very overwhelming, at the end everything tastes the same! I didn't enjoy that everything ended up tasting the same, also the prices are very expensive for what they give you, it's good to try but I wouldn't come back there

Cons: A little expensive and everything tastes the same

remarkable - Edit
I never thought that vegan Vietnamese food could be this good since the Vietnamese kitchen uses a lot of meat in their dishes. 1990 Vegan Living proved that it could be done! The small dishes are an excellent way to sample the many dishes that they have. Wonderful flavour combinations, and the "meats" had textures similar to the real thing. Recommended ( I unfortunately don't remember the names but shall describe them here): spicy tangy "beef", "chicken" on a bamboo stick, and a tofu-"chicken" combo wrapped in a savoury leaf.

Top experience - Edit
This was without a doubt one of the best vegan culinary experiences I have ever had. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. First time we ordered small bowls with side dishes and it was a taste buds heaven. The other day we had big bowls and they weren't as good as the variety of small ones, but still very tasty. Place got crowded in the evening, but we had a reservation, so it was ok.

Best vegan restaurant in Berlin, for me even in the whole world. Never been to such a perfect vegan place. Delicious taste, many choices, nice and cozy place, perfect service. Love the idea of vegan tapas. Excellent food! Prices very reasonable. It's a pity we don't have places like this in The Netherlands.

So good! - Edit
I loved this place! Small dishes at €3,50 so you can get a few and try more than one thing. I got 4 bowls and they were all really really good. I can't wait to come back and try them all. The atmosphere was great as well. Plenty of seating.

Vietnamese Tapas - Edit
This was one of the best places we visited in Berlin and I would highly recommend going. We booked in advance and just as well, as this place is very popular and was packed when we arrived. The interior is stylish and the menu is extensive with about 20 dishes to choose from plus extras and after a bit of help from the excellent, friendly staff we decided to order the pearl on spoon, Dui Ga, Ha Cao (steamed dumplings), Cary (red curry), Bun bao taco, smoky pockets and Thit bung with red rice and noodles. All of the dishes arrived quickly and were beautifully presented and packed full of flavour and texture. I particularly liked the Ha Cao, which is always a favourite of mine and the pearl on spoon, which was seaweed tempura balls with wasabi soy sauce and ginger. The Dui Ga, which was marinated seitan on a cane sugar stick with chilli tamarind dip and smoky pockets were also stunning. The cary could have perhaps been a bit more spice but that's just my preference. Price wise we paid about €3.50 per dish and we would definitely return.
