More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

60% health-based, 40% ethical reasons.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

Being a huge foodie, I love finding new restaurants to explore and eat at, and I know I'll find Happy Cow exceptionally useful when traveling! I'm using my profile here to keep track of places I need to try and how I liked them once I've gone.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I'm fortunate enough to live right around the corner from Lockport's Thanks Jordan Vegan Cafe, which I love and adore. I'm looking forward to trying a dozen more vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants whenever and wherever I go!

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Anything with avocado. Fresh fruit. Sushi. Mexican fare. My quasi-famous "Unstuffed Poblanos." Almost any and every recipe that comes out of a Happy Herbivore cookbook.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Forks Over Knives is what convinced my husband and I to go plant-based. In Defense of Food my Michael Pollan is probably my favorite nutritional literature, even if it isn't meatless. I think his advice is the most basic and most sound out there, applicable to everyone. As for cookbooks, I will never stop raving about Lindsay Nixon's Happy Herbivore series. Everything is so simple and delicious! These are especially wonderful for anyone new to the lifestyle. They got us through the first few months with incredible ease!
