More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I became a Vegetarian firstly for health reasons when my grandfather passed from heart disease. After reading about Veganism, I became a Vegan for health reasons, ethical reasons, and environmental reasons.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I have been looking for a site to connect with like minded Vegans. I have also been looking for a good chat room. I found both at HappyCow.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Places that I've been that I like are Thailand, Atlantic Canada (Fundy bay, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edwards Island, and Cape Breton), San Francisco California, and Gettysburg Pennsylvania. I would definitely like to go back to Fundy bay and California. Places that I would like to visit one day are any Vegan friendly cities. I do not live in a very Vegan friendly city or state. (In the entire state there are less vegan friendly places than in Chicago alone.)

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

One of my first favorite vegan foods was this recipe: http://vegan.sheknows.com/2010/12/13/quinoa-and-edamame-soup/ I used coconut oil instead of olive oil and it made a total difference! Some of my other favorite foods would be from Local Flavors in Chesterton Indiana and WB Pizza in Indianapolis Indiana.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

I would definitely recommend Skinny Bitch Ultimate Everyday Cookbook. She is a quirky writer and will make you laugh. She explains about vegan food and what you should keep on hand. The recipes are easy and have nutritional information such as calories, serving size, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, fiber, protein listed for every recipe. I would also recommend trying this recipe. http://vegan.sheknows.com/2010/12/13/quinoa-and-edamame-soup/ And substitute olive oil with coconut oil to give it a unique taste.
