More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

The (obvious) animal's health, my health and the health of the planet (watch Cowspiracy on Netflix to discover that animal agriculture is the No. 1 cause of climate change -- yikes!)

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I appreciate being able to look up vegan restaurants in an area I may be visiting, as well as check out the reviews -- usually spot-on.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Favorite places (so far):Champs in Brooklyn, NY. Saigon Bangkok on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Buffalo, NY. Flaming Ice Cube in Cleveland, Ohio Would love to do a foodie vacation in California, checking out all the vegan restaurants/cafes that have opened over the last few years.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

All veggies (except okra). All fruit except bananas. Nuts and seeds. Love all the condiment replacements (vegannaise, Earth Balance), nut milks, ice creams, meltable cheeses, Gardein chicken, all the mock meats -- as I like to tell people who ask, I have the same things in my fridge as they likely do...I just didn't participate in harming or killing animals to eat delicious food(s).

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Movies: Cowspiracy. Forks over Knives. Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, Vegucated, Crazy Sexy Cancer. Magazines: VegNews, Naked, Quarterly magazine from PCRM.org (Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine) Website: Vegan in the Freezer Books: China Study by T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes: The Scientifically Proven System for Reversing Diabetes without Drugs by Neal D. Barnard, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease: The Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven, Nutrition-Based Cure by Caldwell B. Esselstyn Jr.
