More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
All the reasons. I woke up one day and wondered why I was killing myself eating the remains of murdered animals, creatures whose crime was to be born a chicken, a cow, a pig, a fish and I couldn't do it anymore. I was always supposed to be a vegan I just had to figure it out.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I don't really know any vegans in the real world, so I thought I would get to know a few in the fake world, plus I'd like to find a few restarants I like, it's been strange to give up all the old things, I am hoping to find a few new ones to replace them with. I didn't have that many friends and most of them thought I was crazy to stop eating meat and now they think I am really crazy, which isn't making them a whole lot of fun to be around.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Everywhere. I love everywhere I've been. I just visited Paris for a week with an artist friend, freekin' fantastic. There were holes in the macdonald's windows from a march the day before, inspiring stuff. Also made it up to Ireland for a few days on my visit, great times. In another month I am visiting a friend in Philly for a week and a half and plan on getting down to DC for at least a day. I love to travel and see the world, hopefully eat some great vegan food and it would be great to run across some great vegan people while I'm at it.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Everything, I've been doing it for a while and I would have to say that most of my food is asian or middle eastern, with an American vegan twist. I am big into nutrition and into excerise and rebuilding my body with grains, beans, vegetables and fruits.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
There are so many, some of that books that helped me get where I am are: "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn, anything by Zinn anything and everything by Noam Chomsky "Manufacturing Consent" is a great place to start "Ishmael" and "My Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn "The Pornography Of Meat" by Adams "Becoming Vegan" by Davis "The China Study" by Campbell (sersiously, I keep a stack of copies of this book around and give it away to anyone who will take it. I just gave a few away at my family reunion) I read a lot, There are so many more.

So cool to see you cite a Carol Adams book. I really think she's required reading for a proper vegucation. And I just picked up a copy of The China Study. Can't believe it was published in 2006 and I'm just discovering it now. What rock have I been hiding under? ha
All the best,
